Christian art has used the right hand of the Savior to express Christian faith. It depicts two of the fingers bent downward to indicate the humble two-fold union of the Divine and the human natures in Christ Jesus; while the other three, held upright and parallel, express the idea of the Holy Trinity of God. Upon the institution of the Holy Supper is based the the entire union between the Grace of the Savior and the soul of each saved believer; and it is the precious sequel of many things that preceded, in prophecy, in the moral law and in the forms and rules of worship. In Christ the Great Teacher standing before us, holding the bread close to His heart of love, we have the embodiment of Life, of Truth, and of the Way to Salvation forever. In the holy "Grail," or cup as He ordained is the eternal happiness due to the cleansing us from all sin. |
