Luther honored music as "the handmaid of theology" and called for all pastors to be skilled in the art of music, as well as for all the people to offer their own song of faith and praise in the liturgy.
Similarly, Grace Church holds music in high regard, always as servant of the Word and of the mission of the Church but in a very important servant role. Our people are encouraged to sing their part in every appropriate place in the liturgy and the hymns. Such music in worship shall both bespeak the dialectic of Law and Gospel and exhibit and stir in our hearts a sense of the balance between the imminence and transcendence of God. As such, music becomes not only a sacrifice of praise but also a mode of teaching and inspiration.
