Luther honored music as "the handmaid of theology" and called for all pastors to be skilled in the art of music, as well as for all the people to offer their own song of faith and praise in the liturgy.
Similarly, Grace Church holds music in high regard, always as servant of the Word and of the mission of the Church but in a very important servant role. Our people are encouraged to sing their part in every appropriate place in the liturgy and the hymns. Such music in worship shall both bespeak the dialectic of Law and Gospel and exhibit and stir in our hearts a sense of the balance between the imminence and transcendence of God. As such, music becomes not only a sacrifice of praise but also a mode of teaching and inspiration.

Music at Grace also becomes a particular avenue of stewardship of time, talent and energy for those with particular musical aptitude. Grace Church members are encouraged and assisted in developing their musical abilities and channeled toward offering them to the Lord both within the life of the parish and beyond. Apart from its use in worship, music also becomes a way for Grace Church to provide spiritual growth and refreshment not only in the Gospel but even of more general sorts, both to Grace's own members and to the broader community.

To this end Grace Church offers a series of fine arts concerts to the community, provides space for music teaching of various sorts, utilizes the sounds of two quality pipe organs in the chapel and the church nave, and seeks to set an example of worthy pursuit of higher expressions of human endeavor and self-understanding as children of God. Thus, music assumes this servant role to the Gospel in is broadest implications and not merely music as a focal point of its own. We invite all persons to participate with us in these pursuits.
