Adult and Youth Class
January 18, 2009

On Sunday, January 18th at 9:00 a.m.  The Reverend David Johnson will speak to the adults and youth of the congregation on "Where Lies Wisdom in the Middle East - in the East or in the West, or Neither?"  Pastor Johnson, former pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran church here in Lancaster, has spent some time in the Middle East, most recently a six-month stint as Acting Regional Director in the Middle East for the American Friends Service Committee (Quakers), residing in Amman, Jordan, and doing extensive travel throughout the area.  Previously he had served the Lutheran World Federation as its representative and field director in Jerusalem and the West Bank, overseeing medical, educational and social services for Palestinians, which included the Augusta Victoria Hospital on the Mount of Olives.

The Reverend Johnson comes to us with extensive personal knowledge and insights into religious and political difficulties in the region and what we, as American Christians, need to know.

Everyone is encouraged to attend this thought-provoking session.
